The BLHF was founded on October 3, 1989 by a group of aviation enthusiasts from Bodų. The society works on the collection, registration, restoration and maintenance of the various aspects of our aviation history, within both the military and civilian sectors. This is carried out in close collaboration with the Norwegian Aviation Museum, The National Defence Museum, the Civil Aviation Authority and other public and private bodies. Documentation work The BLHF carries out extensive documentation work on the location and salvaging of aircraft wrecks. Society members travel all over the country in search of spare parts and other remains of aeroplane wrecks in order to be able to restore certain aircraft. Membership The BLHF has approx. 300 members from all over Norway, the U.S.A., England, France, Spain, the Netherlands, Belgium, Germany, Sweden, Finland and Russia. The society's premises The Society's premises are located in the Norwegian Aviation Museum at No.120 Olav V gt., Bodų, where there is a restoration department, machine shop, metalwork shop, carpenter's shop, instrument workshop, model workshop, photography department, storeroom, offices and a coffee bar. |
