Research

The main focal points of the research activities at Norsk Luftfartsmuseum are studying the role of aviation in the development of Norwegian society during the last hundred years. Why did we start to fly? How did commercial aviation begin in Norway and what was the consequences of this for modern society, economically, socially and culturally? How did aviation influence and change the security policies of Norway, and what consequences did this have for the development of society? What consequences did the development of the airspace as a central battleground in the Cold War have for Norway?

These and similar questions are we trying to find answers to, and convey to you as our visitor.
