AircraftCessna 337D - Super Skymaster
United States, light transport aircraft
The Cessna 337 is a twin-engine, 4-6 seater aircraft. It is a further development of the Cessna 336 with, amongst other things, retractable landing gear, larger wings and a wider range of auxiliary equipment. The Cessna 337 Skymaster took off for the first time in 1965, and by the end of 1978 about 1,900 of them had been built at the Cessna factories in Kansas, USA and Rheims, France. In addition to these, 554 specially equipped versions were built for use by the USAF in Vietnam (the O-2A and O-2B).
The Museum's Cessna 337D Skymaster, LN-TYV, is one of altogether 4 that were registered in Norway. In 1933, it was donated to the Norwegian Aviation Museum by Haakonsvern Aero Club.
